Jan has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry as Senior Portfolio Manager at Standard Bank, Senior Portfolio Manager/Stockbroker at SMK Securities and an Executive Position at Barnard Jacobs Mellet (BJM) respectively.

Jan also held the role of the CEO of the Wealth and Investment Cluster for FNB Wealth. He joined the MMI group in 2014 and was the Head of Portfolio Management and Stock Broking for MMI until 2019.  Since 2019 Jan pursued a career as an independent financial advisor and entrepreneur and created an Independent Financial Services Group (iFSP).
